THE Philippines climbed to 13th in the world rankings in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WSBC) world rankings.
The country moved up two places, according to the latest report by the WBSC, following the fourth-place finish of the Philippine Blu Girls in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
The Philippines also placed 14th in the World Women’s Softball Championship and fourth in the Asian Junior Women’s Softball Championship this year to improve its rankings.
The Blu Girls vie for an Olympic slot as they compete in the Asia/Oceania qualifying tournament next year.
The Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines recently added Amber Freeman to its pool of players that could be tapped to represent the country in international competitions next year.
Freeman is a Fil-American from Arizona State and once represented the United States in the 2013 World Cup.
