Blu Girls remain confident of making Asiad Final Four despite rout at the hands of Chinese

INCHEON, Korea -Veronica Belleza gave up a second-inning three-run home run on Lu Ying as the Philippines fell to China, 8-2, in the 17th Asian Games softball competitions at the Songdo LNG Baseball Stadium here.

Lu’s home run off the country’s ace pitcher came with two outs and the score tied at 2-2 to pave the way for the Blu Girls’ rout.

The Blu Girls now own a 1-2 win-loss record but remained positive about their chances in the Final Four and a possible match-up with China in the page system semifinals.

“We are confident we can do it. By the way the tournament is going now, we might face China in the knockout game,” said Blu Girls coach Randy Dizer.

The Philippines will face Chinese Taipei on Monday and Southeast Asian neighbor Thailand on Tuesday.
