Dec 7, 2017
The Philippines swept its bracket matches in Pool A with two more wins on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the 10th Pacific School Games in Adelaide, Australia.

ADELAIDE - Ace Glory Lozano sustained her splendid job at the mound as the Philippines advanced to the semifinals unbeaten in the 10th Pacific Schools Games girls softball tournament at the Adelaide Shores Sports Complex on Thursday.

Alonzo's arsenal of fastballs and sliders continued to dazzle the opposition as the 16-year old Bacolod lass fanned six batters and allowed only two hits in a 4-0 spanking of Victoria in the first half of a doubleheader.

With no signs of fatigue, Alonzo came back hours later to strike out five from host South Australia's batting line for a 5-2 victory for the Pinays.

Those twin wins completed a sweep of the bracket matches as the country topped Pool A. They will meet either Queensland or New South Wales in the semis on Friday starting at 10 a.m.

"The girls did another outstanding job today and if they contnue to play in this form barring any injuries, they should be a force to be reckoned with for the gold," said Commissioner Charles Maxey of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
