THE Philippines advanced to the super round of the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after beating New Zealand, 1-0, in eight innings in Shanghai, China.
Chelsea Suitos pushed the game-winning run home at the top of the eighth inning for the Blu Girls to clinch one of the four spots in the super round.
The Blu Girls finished Group A in second place with a 2-1 record behind unbeaten China to move into the super round alongside Australia (3-0) and Chinese Taipei (2-1), which were the top two teams in Group B.

The top team in the super round will clinch a spot in the Tokyo Olympics.
Suitos singled to right field with two outs, sending Sierra Lange home for the only run of the game. Pitcher Ann Antolihao took over at the bottom half of the inning by forcing two fly outs to seal the victory.
Antolihao pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and striking out three batters.
