CHIKARA of Brunei posted its second straight win, running away with a 7-0 win over Adamson on Saturday to put its title-retention drive back on track in the ninth Summer Grand Slam softball tournament at the Clark Freeport Zone in Clark Field, Pampanga.
The Chikara clouters continued their surge after absorbing a shock 5-6 setback to the Adamson Alumni side.
Chikara, which also stunned Adamson to win the women’s division title, leaned on the former Philippine team players to overpower the San Marcelino-based squad, bannered by five members of the Philippine Blu Girls.
Polytechnic University of the Philippines moved up in women’s Club B division with a 5-1 record in the tournament organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines headed by president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
Adamson-Manila stayed within striking distance with four straight wins halfway through the tournament.
The national men’s team Blu Boys, meanwhile, continued to dominate the Open category with three straight victories, while Antipolo is running second with a 4-1 slate.
Last year’s champion Philippine Air Force holds a 1-2 mark in the opener of the week-long event sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier last Wednesday.
