ADAMSON clinched its seventh straight UAAP softball title with a 3-1 win over University of Santo Tomas in Game Two of the Season 79 finals on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
Lyca Basa yielded three hits in a complete game, striking out eight batters for the Lady Falcons on their way to a sweep of the best-of-three finals series.
Once again, the Lady Falcons coached by Ana Santiago reasserted their dominance in UAAP softball season they dominated from the get go. They took the top spot in the eliminations with an 11-1 win-loss record, its lone loss coming at the expense of UST.
Leslie Benabaye reached first on a fielding error, allowing Gelyn Lamata to score the first run of the game for Adamson in the second inning, while Nichole Padasas’ RBI single pushed Dely Covarrubias home in the fourth for a 2-0 lead.
Cristy Joy Roa’s RBI triple, scoring Mary Luisse Garde cut Adamson’s lead down to one in the fourth, but Covarrubias knocked in an RBI single in the seventh to settle the final tally.
