TITLEHOLDER Adamson went through the wringer before surviving a tough University of Santo Tomas side, 2-1, Wednesday to remain undefeated in the UAAP Season 75 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The Lady Falcons improved to 8-0 this season and extended their winning run to 28 games spanning three seasons.
The loss by the Tigresses, their third in eight outings, paved the way for the idle Lady Bulldogs (5-2) to seize solo second place.
In other results, UE clobbered La Salle, 4-1, to tie its victims in fourth spot at 3-5, while Ateneo finally barged into the win column with a 3-1 decision over University of the Philippines.
Despite the setback, the Lady Maroons remained in sixth place with a 2-5 record, while the Lady Eagles halted a seven-game losing spell but stayed in the bottom of the standings.
In women’s tennis, La Salle nipped National University, 3-2, to extend its winning streak to four in the resumption of their rained out Jan. 12 matches also on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
It was the third straight wire-to-wire win by the Lady Archers, who beat defending women’s tennis champion Tigresses and the Ateneo Lady Eagles by similar 3-2 scores last weekend.
Tournament newcomer NU suffered its second straight loss.
