SINGAPORE — The Philippine women’s volleyball team was given a warm welcome by hundreds of fans based in the Lion City upon their arrival on Thursday night.

Members of the national women’s team have become big celebrities amid a spike in volleyball's popularity at home and it was no different when they arrived via Singapore Airlines flight SQ921.

Drawing the loudest cheers, of course, is Alyssa Valdez who will carry the flag at the head of the 700-strong Philippine contingent during the opening ceremonies on Friday night.

Some members of her Alyfinity fans club even went to Singapore just to see their favorite player see action in the SEA Games for the first time in her career beginning on June 10.

Here is a video of their arrival courtesy of Abby Rivera of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
