Twinkill in softball as Blu Boys, Blu Girls reassert SEA Games supremacy

SINGAPORE - The Philippine Blu Boys and Blu Girls completed a sweep of the softball gold medals in the 28th Southeast Asian Games at the Kallang Field, reassert their supremacy in the region.

The Blu Boys used a four-run fourth inning to beat Indonesia, 6-4, and regain the title they last won in Palembang, Indonesia four years ago where the team also scored a twinkill with the Blu Girls.

Elma Parohinog, meanwhile, slammed a two-run home run in the third inning while Veronica Belleza pitched a two-hit complete game shutout to beat Thailand, 3-0, for the gold in the distaff side.

“Confident kami na mananalo ng gold dito sa SEA Games,” said Ana Santiago, who won her third gold in the biennial meet as Blu Girls head coach.

The Blu Girls were also the gold medal winner in the 2011 edition of the biennial meet.
