Myanmar scores huge win and dashes U-23 Azkals' medal chances in SEA Games

SINGAPORE — Myanmar scored four goals in the second half to beat the Philippines, 5-1, on Sunday night at the Jalan Besar Stadium, putting the Under-23 Azkals out of medal contention in the 28th Southeast Asian Games.

Shina Thura broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 46th minute before Ye Win Aung (62nd), Si Thu Aung (69th) and Kyaw Zin Lwin (91st) struck to beat the still winless Philippine side.

The Under-23 Azkals remained scoreless on the table after three losses with one match to go in Group A.

Shirmar Felongco broke the ice in the 17th minute but Myanmar’s Nay Lin Tun quickly tied the match just four minutes later.

Myanmar leads Group A with nine points followed by Indonesia with three points, taking second spot from Singapore and Cambodia due to goal difference.
