HEAVY rains failed to hinder Gilas' preparations for the 2017 Seaba Cup with 14 players in attendance for Wednesday’s practice at the Meralco Gym.

Despite the downpour, the national team carried on in their build-up for the tournament set less than a month from now.

Gilas vets like Jayson Castro and Terrence Romeo led the players present for practice along with cadets like Jio Jalalon, Matthew Wright, RR Pogoy, to name a few.

Mac Belo, though, could only watch from the sidelines as he is still recuperating from a knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Calvin Abueva, who suffered a busted lip on Monday that needed eight stitches to close, was still a no-show but is expected to attend Thursday's session.

"Maybe tomorrow," said national team manager Butch Antonio.

Excused from practice were reigning three-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo, Arnold Van Opstal, Japeth Aguilar, Bradwyn Guinto, Fonso Gotladera, and LA Revilla as they all had games in the PBA at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
