THE Gilas Pilipinas side bound for the Southeast Asian Games stayed perfect in its tuneup matches after holding on for an 82-77 win over Adamson on Tuesday at the Meralco Gym.

The Kuala Lumpur-bound team won its third tuneup game in a row, but had to buck a sluggish start, erase a five-point deficit in the fourth period, and withstand a late run by the Falcons.

Kobe Paras and Kiefer Ravena conspired in the final stretch, combining for 11 points as the national team climbed back from a 54-59 hole to take 78-74 lead with 1:25 remaining.

Rayray Parks and Troy Rosario then brought the team home with a pair of free throws.

Gilas head coach Jong Uichico said his wards are far from top form.

"I didn't like what I saw at the start. But as the game progressed, they were able to do what had to be done," said Uichico after the match.

"I can't say we're where I'd like to be. But we'll probably be 70 or 80 percent when we get to the SEA games considering we don't have some of our players."

Gilas previously beat Ateneo and Far Eastern University, and will face National University on Wednesday morning in their final tuneup before leaving for Malaysia on Friday.
