THE veteran tandem of Peter Capotosto and Carla Kramer ruled the Brillo Regatta last Sunday at the Taal Lake Yacht Club.
Racing under the banner of Potato Corner’s “Spudster,” Capotosto and Kramer dominated the regatta in their Hobie 16 Catamarans, particularly on the upwind legs off the coast of Talisay, Batangas.
Maria Vidoeira and her crew Joe Hagedorn came in second in the regatta after managing to place themselves in the top 3 in the series of races staged under ideal conditions last December 8.
The Philippine Hobie Fleet also received a boost over the last few months with several new teams joining in the competition as preparation for the 2014 Philippine Hobie Challenge.
Immediately making their presence felt at the top tier of competition were the AGS Four Winds team composed of Raphael De Colnet and Pierre Henri Berard, nicknamed “The French Fryes”; promising newcomers Alex Chen and Jose Sehwani Gonzales; and longtime sailors Albert Altura and Geoff Morgan De Revery who have recently moved to Hobie 16s.
The regatta was sponsored by the Italian food manufacturer Brillo thru Rico Severino, a TLYC member. The brand markets premium Italian Arabica coffee, and premium corned beef.
