CLARK Freeport Zone, Pampanga — Powerman Philippines Asian Championship fires off on Sunday with some of the top local and foreign duathletes vying for honors.
The Powerman Classic is a 10-kilemeter run, 60km bike and 10km run while the Powerman Short is set at 5K-30K-5K.
It serves as a qualifying event for the next Powerman World Championships.
“It’s all about investing in the Filipino duathlete’s potential, pushing their boundaries and expanding their competitive horizons with the ultimate goal of sending our Filipino duathlete to the Powerman World Champioships,” said Powerman Philippines general manager Kaye Lopez.
Thomas Bruins of the Netherlands banners the men’s field that includes Matt Smith of Australia and Malaysia’s Ziq Junaidy and Lason Loh.
John Chicano, Joey Delos Reyes and Cipriane Topia heads the local bets in the men’s side of the run-bike-run event.
Spicing up the event is the participation of local celebrities Kim Chiu, Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson in the individual races, with Aubrey Miles, Troy Montero and Al Gonzales in the classic distance relay, and Sitti Navarro and Joey Ramirez in the Short distance relay.
