The Philippine Trail Running National Team looks like a strong favorite when it competes in the inaugural Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships in Ulju, South Korea from October 23-27.
According to the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), the Philippines will be a top contender in the team championships involving 23 countries, thanks to the country’s powerhouse roster of athletes.
John Ray Onifa, with an impressive ITRA score of 869, and Elizabeth Dangadang, with a score of 660, leads the team.
They are joined by a strong contingent of male athletes with ITRA scores exceeding 750++, and female athletes scoring above 500 to 600—all prepared to make their mark on the international stage.
The team’s talent and dedication continue to elevate the Philippines’ standing in trail running, a sport where the country has consistently excelled.
This follows the Philippines' triumph at the Southeast Asian Trail Running Cup in June 2024, where the team claimed the top spot, further solidifying its dominance in the region.
