Moral, Camacho top HOKA Trilogy Run Asia National Finals

EDSEL Moral and Maricar Camacho stamped their class in the 2024 HOKA Trilogy Run Asia National Finals, finishing on top of the 42K race on Sunday at SM Mall of Asia Complex.

The perennial contenders were the fastest among the 11,000 runners which participated in the culmination of the running series presented by Gatorade and Sante Barley.

Moral clocked in at two hours, 46 minutes, and 43 seconds, a full seven and a half minute ahead of his closest pursuers in podium finishers James Kevin Cruz (2:54:26) and Rudy Nino Singular (2:54:53).

Camacho, on the other hand, finished the course in three hours, 25 minutes, and 38 seconds, a whopping 11 minutes ahead of her chasers Jennelyn Isibido (3:37:07) and Honey Damian (3:56:29).

“We are very happy with the outcome particularly sa National Finals because yung main objective natin is yung progression and yung commitment ng runners natin,” said RUNRIO founder and CEO Rio dela Cruz of the run which has Le Minerale as hydration partner and gold sponsors PAGCOR, Department of Tourism – Love the Philippines, and GOMO.

It was indeed a celebration of active lifestyle as a total of 70,000 runners participated in the three legs set across Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro before the National Finals and received their unique Multi-Finishers Medal.

Aside from the top finishers, also honored were the top runners in each age group categories – one that dela Cruz is wishing could entice more to be part of the running community.

David Kipsang topped the male 21K category with his time of one hour, 10 minutes, and 33 seconds, faster than Ritchie Estampador (1:11:33) and Eduard Flores (1:12:13). Mea Gey Ninura was the best among the female with her time of one hour, 34 minutes, and 21 seconds, just nosing out Edna Magtubo who came a second later with her time of 1:34:22). Rocel Maestro came in third at 1:37:04.

Ricky Organiza came out on top in the male 10K category with his 31 minutes and 23 second-time, faster than James Darrel Orduna (32:07) and Roy Laudit (32:34), while Jessa Mae Roda was the best among the females with her time of 40 minutes and four seconds, ahead of Maria Jonna Lina Abutas (40:28) and Decerie Encomio (42:02).

Alfrence Braza timed the best among the men in the 5K category with 16:18, faster than Jevie Rebutazo (16:26) and Joel Orogan (16:51), while Joida Gagnao was the fastest woman in this race with 20:02, ahead of Jash Mae Duhaylungsod (24:03) and Danica Baylon (25:51).
