AS running continues to find its stride in the Philippines, Strava is making sure Filipinos can communicate with it in their own language.

The global fitness app, now with over 195 million users, has added support for 10 more languages, including Tagalog, in a move that feels timely for a country leaning further into its running boom.

From fun runs and races filling city streets to casual joggers documenting their progress online, the sport’s growing appeal is as much about community as it is about accessibility - and language plays a quiet but crucial role in that.

Takbo sa Tagalog

By introducing Tagalog on the platform, Strava lowers the barrier for many Filipinos who are only beginning to explore fitness tracking. Metrics, training plans, and in-app challenges, often intimidating when presented in a foreign language, become easier to understand, and in turn, easier to act upon.

It shifts the experience from simply logging workouts to actually learning from them.

“With the addition of these new languages, Strava is more international than ever before, enabling users to unlock the full Strava experience in their native language,” said Louisa Wee, Chief Marketing Officer at Strava.

“The expansion is a key part of our broader global growth strategy, which includes regional partnerships, localized content libraries, and market-specific challenges and programs launching later this year.”

The features remain familiar: free users can track over 50 types of activities and connect with friends, while subscribers unlock more personalized tools: from route discovery to deeper training insights.

Other languages added were Czech, Danish, Malay, Norwegian Bokmal, Polish, Swedish, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
