Butch Ramirez lauds Mike Barredo for award from Asian Paralympic Committee
Philspada chief Mike Barredo presents his APC award to Philippine Sports Commission chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez and senior executive assistant Ronnel Abrenica.

PHILIPPINE Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez is pleased that a former PSC commissioner has been honored by the Asian Paralympic Committee for his work in the field of sports for differently-abled.

Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled (Philspada) president Mike Barredo presented to the PSC on Monday the plaque given to him last month by the APC during its general assembly in Bangkok.

It has been almost a decade since Barredo left the PSC, where he served as commisioner during the term of former chairman Eric Buhain, but he has continued working with Philspada.

Ramirez was also PSC commissioner, then made chairman, during the Arroyo administration.

The award is the highest order that the APC can bestow and is awarded to any person who has illustrated the APC ideals, "through his or her actions has demonstrated outstanding achievement in their sport,” said Ramirez.

Barredo had already been given the Paralympic Order by the International Paralympic Committee in 2013, an award for persons who are active in the Paralympic movement.
