Answered prayer as Hidilyn Diaz gets PSC assurance on new PH weightlifting gym
Hidilyn Diaz is all smiles after getting assurance of a new and improved weightlifting facility for the Philippine team.

HIDILYN Diaz got a quick response to her lament, following her tweet on the sad state of the Philippine weightlifting team's gym at the Rizal Memorial Complex.

After pointing out the unchanged state of the said gym in decades on her Twitter account Wednesday, Diaz shared some good news Friday morning in sharing that Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) executive director Sannah Frivaldo had assured her that a weightlifting gym and a high-performance training facility is set to be built within the next three months.

Diaz tweeted on Friday morning that the PSC informed her the construction of the new gym is about to take place after a winning bidder has been determined. The Rio Olympics silver medalist also tweeted bidding for the construction took place December 14 in compliance with government regulations.

“Good news! May nanalo na daw sa bidding para weightlifting gym at high performance gym sabi ng executive director ng PSC,” Diaz wrote on her Twitter account @diaz_hidilyn. "In three months daw magawa na ang gym. Please! Matagal na po kami naghihintay.”

On Wednesday, Diaz lamented the state of the national team’s weightlifting gym at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, saying that her coach told her the state of the facility has not changed since the 1990s.

“Nagtataka pa ba tayo bakit hanggang ngayon wala pa tayong gold medal sa Olympics?,” wrote Diaz on her Twitter account.

Diaz is eyeing a gold medal in the 2020 Olympics after winning the silver medal two years ago in Rio De Janeiro.
