DANIEL Caluag and Sienna Fines seek to qualify for the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics via the UCI BMX World Championship from May 25 to 29 in Medellin, Colombia.

Caluag is looking to return to the Olympics after seeing action for the Philippines in the 2012 London Games. He won gold in the Incheon Asian Games.

Fines a Fil-American junior cyclist is also looking to secure an Olympic berth for the first time.

Philippine Olympic Committee first vice president Joey Romasanta hopes for the best since local sports officials haven’t heard anything from Caluag since two years ago.

“Unfortunately, nothing was heard of from Caluag almost immediately after the Asian Games. Wala kaming narinig na sinalihan siyang qualifying event.

“Nakatanggap kami ng request for financial assistance for Fines for the World Championship,” said Romasanta.
