VOLLEYBALL star Michele Gumabao bagged the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas Globe title.

The star of the court joined five other queens crowned on Sunday night at the Araneta Coliseum.

Catriona Gray was named Miss Universe Philippines, Ahtisa Manalo earned the Bb. Pilipinas International title, Jehza Huelar was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Supranational, Eva Psychee Patalinjug was awarded Bb. Pilipinas Grand International, and Karen Gallman was named Bb. Pilipinas Interncontinental.

Gumabao, who was also named Ms. Cream Silk, is now set to represent the Philippines in the Miss Globe 2018.

Gumabao, winner of three consecutive UAAP titles with La Salle, did well in the question and answer portion after veteran journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon asked, “What can you do to fight fake news?”

“I know that fake news is rampant nowadays but, in order to fight this, we must first know what we are reporting, know what we are reading and, at the same time, be accountable for what we say, especially online,” said Gumabao.

“And I hope that media always filters and use their resources to always deliver the truth and authentic news. Thank you,” she added.
