Will marriage take Fille Cainglet away from volleyball for good? Coach, teammate give take

    Dec 29, 2013

EVEN as she takes a new path in her life, newly-wed Fille Cainglet-Cayetano intends to return to the court and continue playing the game that brought her fame.

The 23-year-old volleyball star made the promise to her former coach at Ateneo Roger Gorayeb.

The multi-titled collegiate volleyball mentor disclosed that he and Cainglet talked about the future a few months before she tied the knot with movie director and current Taguig City congressman Lino Cayetano.

“Nagkita kami sa PSL (Philippine Super Liga) last month. Magkasama sila.

Cainglet is no longer eligible to play in the UAAP after playing out the final year of her eligibility with the Lady Eagles last year, which in turn also barred her from competing in the first conference of the Shakey’s V-League.

But the charming player can still play in the Open Conference of the V-League and in the newly-formed PSL where she suits up for Ateneo.

But Gorayeb doesn’t want to expect that much.

Mas may demand for her presence niya run,” said the former Ateneo coach.

Even Cainglet’s former Ateneo teammate Alyssa Valdez, is not so sure if the former star spiker back on the court.

Kaya happy kami for her,” said Valdez, the current face of Ateneo women’s volleyball team.

“Pero magiging happy ako kung lalaro ulit siya and give her fans some more thrills and excitement on the court,” she added.

But Gorayeb said there will always be an open slot in the team for Cainglet as long as he remains physically fit to play.

They talk the same language kung baga,” he added.
