A PLDT Home Telpad still waiting for its recent acquisitions proved too much for University of the Philippines, scoring a quick 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 win on Thursday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Gretchel Soltones fired 16 points for the Power Attackers, team captain Sue Roces had 15 and Charo Soriano scored 10.
PLDT started its campaign with only 10 players, with former UAAP stars Dindin Santiago and Abi Marano yet to join the squad.
But the Turbo Boosters still scored a comfortable win and joined opening-game winners Ateneo, Cagayan Valley, National University, Air Force and Army.
“Hindi pa maayos ’yung takbo ng team ko pero at least panalo,” said PLDT coach Roger Gorayeb. “Si Gretchel ok rin kasi dagdag opensa para sa team.”
The Turbo Boosters were also without NU star Mina Aganon and University of St. La Salle’s Royce Estampa, who are also seeing action for other teams in the Philippine Super Liga.
Santiago and Aganon are with Petron, while Estampa and Marano are with AirAsia. All four are seeing action in a Cebu match in the PSL on Saturday.
Kathy Bersola scored 13, while Angeli Araneta had 12 points for UP, which shares the bottom of the standings with Philippine National Police at 0-3.
