CAGAYAN Valley cruised to its fourth win in as many outings downing Meralco in straight sets on Sunday in the Shakey's V-League Season 10 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Seventeen-year old Thai import Kannika Thipachot scored 24 points from 18 spikes, four blocks and two service aces to power the Lady Rising Suns to a 26-24, 25-22, 25-14 victory.
Team captain Angge Tabaquero finished with 14, including four straight points in the final set.
"Maganda ang ginagalaw ng team ang lagi ko lang naman kasing paalala sa kanila hindi pwedeng magkanya-kanya," said Cagayan Valley coach Nes Pamilar.
After the close two sets, the Lady Rising Suns took control early in the third. From a 5-4 contest, Cagayan pulled away as Aiza Maizo, Thipachot and Tabaquero led a 6-2 spurt to put up an 11-6 advantage.
Cagayan never looked back as Wenneth Eulalio joined in the scoring rampage as Cagayan Valley sclosed out the match in 78 minutes.
"Kailangan team work, lahat mag contribute, hindi pwedeng aasa lang sa dalawa (na Thai import)," Pamilar said.
Wang Coco was the lone player from the Meralco side who finished in double figures. The Chinese reinforcement came up with 18 points from 13 spikes, three blocks and two service aces.
The Power Spikers are now 2-2 in the tournament.
