Arellano, National University stake unbeaten records against separate opponents

    Apr 9, 2014

ARELLANO looks to complete a sweep of the group stage and National University looks to seal a quarterfinal berth when they battle separate opponents on Thursday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Chiefs have won four straight matches and seek to complete a sweep of the group stage when they face the Adamson Lady Falcons at 2 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, welcome back guest player Rubie de Leon as they try to score their fourth win in as many matches when they battle Far Eastern University in the 4 p.m. match.

Ace setter De Leon, a former University of Santo Tomas college player, was a vital piece of the NU squad that won last season’s first conference.

Ivy Perez has done well to set up Dindin and Jaja Santiago, Mina Aganon and other Lady Bulldogs spikers at the net and the team has maintained an unblemished record.

But the presence of the 30-year old De Leon gives NU an instant confidence boost aside from solid plays.

FEU, meanwhile, hopes to get fine performances anew from Bernadette Pons and Mary Palma. The  Lady Tamaraws are in the middle of the standings with a 1-1 record, tied with UST.
