UST eyes back-to-back wins as San Sebastian looks to bounce back from defeat

    Apr 12, 2014

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas and San Sebastian College collide on Sunday, both teams looking to boost their bids for quarterfinal berths in the V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The Tigresses defeated Far Eastern University in four sets last week and are gunning for back-to-back wins against a reeling San Sebastian side.

The match starts at 6 p.m.

UST holds a 1-1 win-loss card and sit behind unbeaten defending champion National University (4-0) in Group B.

High school star and guest player EJ Laure led the Tigresses in scoring in their first two matches with 23 against NU and 17 against FEU.

Now the Tigresses expect another huge performance from the UAAP Juniors MVP, while Pam Lastimosa, Mela Tunay and Ria Meneses could be counted on to contribute the usual numbers.

Czarina Berbano, guest player Sasa Devanadera and Jolina Labiano hope to carry San Sebastian, which has been on a rollercoaster ride after a loss in its opener to FEU, a victory over Perpetual Help and defeat at the hands of National U.

Gretchel Soltones is expected to suit up for the San Sebastian belles after missing the team’s last two games due to an injury she sustained in the four-set loss to the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

Struggling University of Perpetual Help eyes its first win in three tries when it collides with FEU in the 4 p.m. match.

FEU is also looking to snap back-to-back losses to the Tigresses and the Lady Bulldogs after beating the Lady Stags in the opener.
