PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee chairman Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino has formally called for a special election on July 5 that will fill the seven vacancies in the organization.
A notice of a special election was sent out to all POC regular members by Tolentino which will be held on July 5, 11:30 a.m. at the Golden Bay Restaurant in Pasay City in the light of voluntary resignations by some officers and board members in the POC.
Among the positions that will be contested are the chairman, president, first vice president, treasurer, auditor, and two executive board members.
During the extraordinary general assembly, Tolentino expressed his intention to step down as chairman to pave the way for an election.
Romasanta, who has become the president of the POC by succession following the resignation of Ricky Vargas, is also stepping down, apparently, in his position as first vice president.
Treasurer Julian Camacho, auditor Jonne Go, and executive board members Clint Aranas and Cynthia Carrion are also stepping down based on their statements during the extraordinary meeting that was determined to be invalid due to technicality.
