DARWIN, Australia – The Philippines captured two more gold medal in swimming Tuesday as it a successful campaign in the 2019 Arafura Games with 17 mints.
Ivo Nikolai Enot captured his third gold medal after winning the men’s 13 to 14 year old 50-meter backstroke in 29.80 seconds while Samuel Alcos claimed his second gold by ruling the men’s 17 over 100m breaststroke with a clocking of 1:05.63.
The Philippines now has 30 gold medals, with swimming accounting for more than half of the output so far. The country also has 47 silver and 28 bronze medals.
The men’s basketball team beat Torres Strait Islands, 105-61, to open its campaign.
Muay and basketball resume on Wednesday while competition in badminton, sepak takraw, boxing, and beach volleyball begin in different parts of this Australian city.
