STREAKING Cagayan Valley goes for a fourth straight win in the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference as it battles dangerous Meralco Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
After making short work of Philippine Navy the last time, 25-12, 25-12, 25-16, the Lady Rising Suns expect the going to get tough in their 4 p.m. encounter with the Power Spikers.
“Ang Meralco all-star din 'yan, magagaling din ang mga players niyan," said Cagayan Valley coach Nes Pamilar. "Ang paalala ko lang sa kanila 'yung teamwork, maganda ang kakalabasan basta tulungan."
Cagayan is currently on top of the standings with a 3-0 record.
Pamilar is again relying on skipper Angge Tabaquero to provide the leadership on the floor and key the team’s bid to keep its unbeaten slate going.
Meralco is currently in the middle of the pack with a 2-1 slate as the Power Spikers are coming off a 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-13 win over Far Eastern University.
Power Spikers mentor Oliver Almadro said the team needs to lessen its turnovers to have a chance at beating the Lady Rising Suns.
"We have to work it out, we have to minimize our errors," he said. "(At) paghahandaan na lang namin ang Cagayan."
Meanwhile, unbeaten Philippine Army collides with winless Philippine Navy in the curtain raiser at 2p.m.
The Lady Troopers are on target for their second consecutive win, while the Lady Sailors will try to bounce back from their loss to the Lady Rising Suns.
