How Gilas can make Olympics via World Cup

Gilas Pilipinas is not only focused on the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup where it will try to put its best foot forward in front of the home crowd.

The national team is also using the world showpiece to book a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

How can Gilas do it?

Simply by being the highest-placed Asian team in the World Cup ahead of China, Jordan, Japan, Iran, and Lebanon.

Getting past the group stage could give Gilas an edge.

If that doesn’t pan out, the Filipino dribblers can still have a chance if they save their best for last in the classification phase.

Not to mention enjoying a generous salary of around P1.5 million a month.

"Robert was a max player in the PBA so he wouldn't have left for less than that. He pulls between $25,000 and $30,000 a month and his two-year contract is fully guaranteed,” a source said.
