How Gilas can make Olympics via World Cup
Gilas Pilipinas is not only focused on the 2023 Fiba Basketball World Cup where it will try to put its best foot forward in front of the home crowd.
The national team is also using the world showpiece to book a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
How can Gilas do it?
Simply by being the highest-placed Asian team in the World Cup ahead of China, Jordan, Japan, Iran, and Lebanon.
Getting past the group stage could give Gilas an edge.
If that doesn’t pan out, the Filipino dribblers can still have a chance if they save their best for last in the classification phase.

Robert Bolick arrives in Japan
Robert Bolick has received the royal treatment from the Fukushima Firebonds in the Japan B2 League.
Upon his arrival in Japan last week alongside wife Cassandra, the former PBA star has been settling in a two-bedroom house and drives around in a car provided by the team.
Not to mention enjoying a generous salary of around P1.5 million a month.
"Robert was a max player in the PBA so he wouldn't have left for less than that. He pulls between $25,000 and $30,000 a month and his two-year contract is fully guaranteed,” a source said.
James Laput sorry for ‘harsh’ rant at SSL ref
James Laput apologized for lashing out at a referee after a controversial call in the Shakey’s Super League National Invitational Finals opener that saw La Salle, where Laput’s sister Shevana plays, lost to Adamson in five sets.
Laput, the Magnolia center, criticized a questionable call where referee Spinx Cabusa ruled a crucial point in favor Adamson after saying that Shevana had last on the ball.
In a now-deleted tweet, the PBA cager lashed out on a 'bald' person — alluding to the match referee for the pivotal call involving her sister.
Laput was quick to retract his tweet and subsequently issued an apology for his 'harsh reaction' and 'unprofessional' words in the heat of the moment.
