BANGKOK – Zyra Bon-as beat Thailand’s Jantakarn Manoban, 2-1, in the women’s 48kg low kick on Tuesday to capture the gold in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games kickboxing competitions at the John Paul II Center, Assumption University.
The 24-year-old Bon-as, who drew a first-round bye, defeated Bui Thi Yen Nhi of Vietnam, 2-1, in the semifinals before becoming the Philippines’ first kickboxing gold medalist at these Games.

Bon-as admitted getting anxious before facing the hometown bet in the final.
