PATTAYA, Thailand – There will be a Yulo after all in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games gymnastics competition.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion confirmed that Elaiza Yulo will compete in the Philippine women’s gymnastics team for the SEA Games. Yulo is the younger sister of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos and rising star Eldrew.
Carrion said the 16-year-old Elaiza took the spot of Olympian Emma Malabuyo, who sustained an injury. The younger Yulo will be competing in the balance beam and floor.
Carlo skipped the SEA Games due to an injury as well as the Thailand ruling where a gymnast is only allowed to compete in two events.
Also in the SEA Games women’s gymnastics team are Olympian Aleah Finnegan and Haylee Garcia.
The SEA Games will be an excellent experience for Elaiza who is also aspiring to become a successful gymnast like his celebrated brothers.
Elaiza had already competed in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships last October.
