VIETNAM beat Indonesia, 3-0, on Tuesday to win the men’s football final of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Dong Van Hau scored two goals in the 39th and 73rd minute, while Do Hung Dung also converted in the 60th minute.
The victory sparked celebrations in several parts of Vietnam after the country won its first-ever men’s football crown in the SEA Games Under-22 tournament.

South Vietnam won a men’s football crown in 1959, the very first edition of the SEA Games when it was still named as the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games.
The match also drew Vietnamese fans in Manila as they filled half of the stadium for the momentous occasion for its country’s football team.
Vietnam also scored a win in women’s football with a 1-0 victory over Malaysia for a double gold for the country.
