TREAT Huey will not compete in this year's Southeast Asian Games to focus on his stint in the US Open, sources confirmed to SPIN.ph.

Sources said Huey backed out as the SEA Games is in close proximity with the US Open, one of the four Grand Slams in the world, which will open on August 28 in Flushing Meadows, New York.

This year's SEA Games will be in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from August 19 to 30.

Huey, who also competes in the Davis Cup for the national squad, was part of the final list of the Philippine team but will now be replaced by emerging Filipino tennis star AJ Lim, the source added.

Huey's absence could be a big blow to the country's campaign in the SEA Games as he won a mixed doubles gold with Denise Dy two years ago in Singapore. It was the country's lone gold in tennis.
