CHONBURI, Thaliand – Chino Sy-Tancontian won his second gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games in a different martial arts field on Saturday.
Sy-Tancontian became the 12th gold medalist of the Philippines in the 33rd edition of the Games when he wrested the men’s judo 100kg division crown in Bangkok.
Sy-Tancontian hurdled Gede Ganding Kalbu Soethama of Indonesia via ippon for Philippine judo’s first gold in these Games.
In 2019, Sy-Tancontian was the gold medal winner in another martial arts in sambo when the event was staged in Pampanga.
Sy-Tancontian beat Khamxay Vongphachanh of Laos in Pool A to clinch a spot in the semifinals where he edged hometown bet Kittipong Hantratin.
