    Sinag Pilipinas completes sweep to formally claim gold in SEA Games

    Sinag Pilipinas celebrates another basketball gold medal in the SEA Games.

    SINAG Pilipinas formally captured the gold in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar with an 84-56 win over Malaysia on Sunday to complete a sweep of the tournament at the Zayar Thiri Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.

    Bobby Ray Parks finished with 18 points, while Kevin Alas added 13 points as Sinag completed a six-game sweep of the tournament.

    The Philippines went on a 41-22 blast in the second half to take another lopsided victory in the SEA Games.

    With the victory, the Philippines reasserted its class in the region by winning its 16th gold medal in the history of the SEA Games.

    Sinag Pilipinas won the tournament after a sluggish start, winning by 13 points against Singapore. But the team got back to its true form winning by an average margin of 38 points throughout the tournament including a 75-point rout against host Myanmar.

    Philippines (84) – Parks 18, Alas 13, J. Pascual 8, Ravena 8, Douthit 6, Lanete 6, Sumang 6, Ferrer 5, Cruz 5, Belo 4, R. Pascual 3, Ganuelas 2.

    Malaysia (56) – Ong 11, Choo 10, Kuek 10, Koh 9, Ooi 4,Wong 4, Loh 3, Ng 3, Kwaan 2, Soo 0, Gan 0, Mak 0.

    Quarterscores: 21-15; 43-34; 68-49; 84-56.
