SINAG Pilipinas routed longtime rival and medal contender Thailand, 100-68, on Friday for its fourth straight win in the 27th Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball competitions at the Zayar Thiri Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.
Kevin Ferrer had a huge outing with 23 points as Sinag remain the only team unbeaten after dealing the Thais their first loss in the meet.
The nationals are now only two wins away from retaining the gold. They meet Indonesia on Saturday before wrapping their campaign against Malaysia on Sunday.
The Filipino cagers pounced on the Thais early on by holding a 29-17 lead at the end of the first quarter, then outscored the Thais, 31-9, in the third period.
Jake Pascual had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Sinag while Kiefer Ravena added 14 markers. Naturalized player Marcus Douthit had 10 points and six rebounds.
