THE Philippine men’s basketball squad trounced hapless Myanmar, 118-43, on Thursday for its third win in as many games in the 27th Southeast Asian Games men’s basketball tournament at the Zeyar Thiri Stadium in Naypyitaw.
A 10-0 start led by Bobby Ray Parks, Kiefer Ravena, and Kevin Ferrer was more than enough for the Philippine quintet to silence the host as Sinag Pilipinas matched Thailand’s 3-0 win-loss record.
Mac Belo and Ronald Pascual also helped Sinag increase its lead, scoring 11 points each in the first half that saw them take a commanding 62-27 lead.
Pascual led Sinag with a game-high 20 points while Belo had 17 markers for Sinag. Ferrer chipped in 13 points, while Parks and Garvo Lanete each had 10 points.
The Nationals now brace for the tough stretch as it battles the medal contenders starting on Friday against Thailand in the round-robin tournament.
