TUESDAY was a glorious day for the Philippine athletics team, thanks to a three-gold haul highlighted by what is believed to be the country's first-ever sprint double in the Southeast Asian Games.

There's just one thing amiss.

A closer look showed that Fil-Am sprinters Kayla Richardson and Eric Cray wore uniforms with the Philippine flag upside down on their chest in what was supposed to be the biggest moment of their careers.

Keen-eyed Spin.ph readers noticed the oversight as soon as we ran pictures of the two celebrating the victories - the first-ever by a Filipino male runner in the SEA Games and the first by a Filipina since Elma Muros in 1995.

That should dampen the joy for Philippine officials, who certainly have some explaining to do.

Afterall, history class taught us that the only time Filipinos display flags with the red part at the top is when the country is at war, right?
