THIRTY sports have been initially approved for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games set November 30 to December 10 with most of the events to be held at Clark in Pampanga and Tarlac.
The Southeast Asian Games Federation meeting ended on Thursday at the Shangri-La Hotel The Fort, with athletics, aquatics, archery, badminton, baseball/softball, basketball, billiard sports, bowling, boxing, cycling included in the calendar.
Also in the initial list are equestrian/polo, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, judo/jiu-jitsu, karatedo, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, squash, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling/kurash, wushu, arnis, dancesports and muay.
More sports can be added to the list, and Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee co-vice chairman and Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas said the National Olympic Committees can make their recommendations before June 13, 2018.
Vargas said the number of events will still be discussed during another SEA Games Federation meeting on November.
Subic and Manila will also host several events in the 2019 SEA Games.
