Philippines marks one-year countdown to Southeast Asian Games

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The countdown to the 2019 Southeast Asian Games has begun.

The country shifted its hosting of the biennial meet into high gear on Friday night with the one-year countdown to the Games at the Bayanihan Park in front of Clark Field.

Executive secretary Salvador Medialdea and Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee chairman Alan Peter Cayetano led the launch of the countdown clock at the site several kilometers away from the New Clark City Sports Complex where the centerpiece events of athletics and aquatics will be held.

    Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas and Philippine Sports Commission chairman William Ramirez were also present to welcome the 11 chefs de mission from the SEA Games member countries.

    The SEA Games logo was also officially launched in the festivities as well as the slogan ‘We Win As One,’ signifying that unity between all Southeast Asian countries.
