RUBILEN Amit hurdled Nuanthakhamjan Sirapaporn of Thailand, 7-5, in her first match in the 30th Southeast Asian Games women’s 10-ball singles in billiards on Wednesday at the Manila Hotel Tent.
Amit overcame a 0-4 start and a 3-5 deficit by winning the final four racks to advance into the quarterfinals.
The former 10-ball world champion survived the scare and will face Bui Xuan Vang of Vietnam, who beat Wong Poi Sei of Malaysia, 7-0.
Chezka Centeno had first-round bye and will see action in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night against Waratthanun Sukritthanes of Thailand.
Also seeing action on Wednesday is Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes in the one-carom singles, and the men’s 9-ball doubles team of Carlo Biado and Johann Chua, and Jeffrey Ignacio and Warren Kiamco as they look to arrange an all-Filipino final in the event.
