ROBERT Garcia could only salvage a silver medal as he fell in the finals of the men's singles event in the 30th Southeast Asian Games squash tournament Tuesday at Manila Polo Club in Makati.
Muhammad Abdeen Bahtiar of Malaysia got the better of the 33-year-old Filipino, taking the gold in four sets, 11-7, 3-11, 11-9, 11-5.
It was still an improvement for Garcia, with the second-place finish being his best after wounding up with bronze in Manila 2005, Bangkok 2007, and Kuala Lumpur 2017.
He will have more chances to claim the elusive gold as he is set to compete in the team and mixed team events.
