SINGAPORE - The official designer and manufacturer of the uniforms of the Philippine athletics team to the Southeast Asian Games has formally apologized for mistakenly placing the Philippine flag upside down.

Clarence V. Fajardo, owner of World Champion Trading, sent a letter to the Philippine Olympic Committee (PoC) apologizing for the inverted flags seen in the track uniforms worn by sprinters Eric Cray and Kayla Richardson during their sweep of the sprint gold medals.

“I would like to ask you to accept our deepest apologies for the mistake we made in the printing of the Philippine flag on some of the uniforms we delivered,” Fajardo said.

Fajardo explained the flag snafu was entirely their fault, adding the mistake was made in 16 of the uniforms it made for Philippine athletes.

The problem has since been addressed, Fajardo added.

“A total of 16 pcs of the items had flags printed upside down, this mistake was solely our fault and was clearly caused by human error on our part. It was not our intention to create such an awkward situation for the team and for you. We are now working overtime to have these misprinted items replaced as quickly as possible.
