THE Philippines will be battling for the gold in snooker as the team of Alvin Barbero and Jefrey Roda beat Htet Ko and Lin Thet Min of Myanmar, 3-0, on Thursday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Manila Hotel Tent.
Barbero and Roda swept the match against the Myanmar pair and will fight for the gold against Malaysia’s Hassan Mohd Reza and Chung Leong Loh, who beat the Singapore team of Kingsley Tian Yi Ang and Chun Kiat Lim, 3-1, in the semifinals.

The Philippines has not won a gold in snooker since the team of Alex Pagulayan, Joven Alban and Leonardo Andam took the snooker team title in 2005 at the Makati Coliseum.
In other results, Carlo Biado won over Darryl Chia of Malaysia, 9-4, to move into the quarterfinals of the 10-ball singles.
Dennis Orcollo beat Abu Bakar Muhammad Azim of Brunei Darussalam, 9-4, to also reach the quarterfinals in the 10-ball singles.
Benjamin Gueverra lost to Tran Le Anh Tuan of Vietnam, 3-2, in the English billiards round-of-16.

Francisco Dela Cruz beat Pakpoj Yuttapop of Thailand, 100-30, to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals of the one-cushion carom, the event where Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes will see action in the semifinals on Friday.
