THE Philippine polo team captured its first win in the mixed 4-6 goals division with an 8.5-5 decision over Malaysia on Tuesday in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the Iñigo Zobel Polo Facility in Calatagan, Batangas.
The team of Tomas Vicente Bitong, Stefano Juban, Eduardo Miguel Lopez, and Augustus Aguirre picked up the victory after the Philippine squad lost to Brunei, 8.5-8.
The squad is now tied with Malaysia for second place in the standings with a 1-1 card, behind first placer Brunei, which holds a 2-0 record.
The Philippines will be facing winless Indonesia (0-2) on Thursday. Malaysia and Brunei will face each other in the other elimination round game.
The top two teams will advance to the gold medal match on December 1.
