SINGAPORE — The Philippines will play a tune-up game with Singapore before the start of the 28th Southeast Asian Games women’s volleyball competition.

With the team arriving six days before their opening match, national coach Roger Gorayeb said they decided to spend some time playing an exhibition game against Singapore on Saturday.

The Philippines will not face Singapore in the preliminaries as they are in different groups. The Filipina spikers are in Group A and will open play against Indonesia on June 10.

“Gusto maki-tune-up sa amin. Bukas kalaban namin sila. Nasa kabilang grupo naman sila,” said Gorayeb.

Following the team’s lunch at a posh hotel here on Friday, Gorayeb was once again approached by the head coach of the hosts' women’s volleyball team.

Gorayeb responded by saying that they are willing to play tune-up games against the host team as many times as possible in preparation for the SEA Games.
