THE Philippines copped its first medal in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur after winning silver in the indigenous sport of chinlone.
The Nationals of Alvin Pangan, Emmanuel Escote, Joearr Jumawan, John Jeffrey Morcillos, Regie Reznan Pabriga, Rhemwil Catana, and Ronsited Gabayeron settled for a silver medal in the men's linking event held at the Indoor Stadium Titiwangsa after bowing to Malaysia in the gold-medal match, 391-271.
With the win, the host country Malaysia also bagged the first gold in this year's SEA Games.
Chinlone is a traditional sport that originated in Myanmar where a ball is juggled creatively and passed on to each player without the ball touching the ground.
