THE men’s and women’s national volleyball pools got their full support from Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The athletes of the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. will get their full recognition from the PSC as both men’s and women’s national pool members are already processing their requirements.

The women’s national team head coach Shaq Delos Santos, happily, shared the development on Tuesday at the LVPI office.

“Siyempre happy kami kasi recognized na kami ng PSC. Syempre mas magiging smooth na rin 'yung takbo ng team, then 'yung relationship sa PSC,” said Delos Santos. “Hopefully magtuloy-tuloy pa.”

Last year, the Filipinas didn’t get an allowance from the PSC in their fruitful Asian Games stint in Jakarta and Palembang and in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Asian Cup in Thailand.

The 22-woman national women’s pool members have yet to start training because they are still completing their medical exam and other requirements for their PSC ID this week.

“Gusto rin namin mga coaches and sina ma'am LVPI secretariat Marissa (Andres)at sina president Peter (Cayco) na matapos muna,” Delos Santos said. “Para at least wala na kami po-problemahin para more on focus nalang kami sa training.”

Part of the 22-woman pool are Alyssa Valdez, Aby Maraño, Jaja Santiago, Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Jia Morado, Jema Galanza, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Ces Molina, Dawn Macandili and Denden Lazaro as well as new comers Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, MJ Phillips, Tots Carlos, Eya Laure, Kath Arado, Jerrili Malabanan, Celine Domingo, and Angel Cayuna.

“I think kapag na-OK yun (medical) mayroon na atang (allowance). Magbibigay sila (PSC) pero hindi lang namin alam kung magkano pero approved na yung list ng lineup namin sa PSC,” he added.

After completing all their requirements, the national team coach will deal with the schedules of the on-going Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference and the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino, which opens on June 15.

The team practice will likely start next week.

The women’s national team has a plan of joining the PSL invitational Cup on October but it depends on their schedule as Delos Santos’s priority right now is their planned training camps in Japan and China.

“Priority din namin yung camp kasi international yun ang mas kailangan namin yun. Kung okay naman sa sched siguro go kami sa Invitational,” Delos Santos said.

“Competitive lahat ng mga nakuha namin so magiging healthy competition yung mangyayari,” he added.
