PH men's volleyball team impressive in debut vs Malaysia to make up for loss of women's side

SINGAPORE – The Philippine men’s volleyball team made up for the loss of its women’s counterpart by defeating Malaysia, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-19, on Wednesday in the 28th Southeast Asian Games at the OCBC Arena.

Reigning UAAP MVP Marck Espejo led the Nationals with 17 points, while John Vic De Guzman added 14 in the win by the Filipino spikers, who overcame the 27-point effort of Malaysian Sim Jian Qin.

The win came on the heels of Filipinas’ three-set loss at the hands of Indonesia, 25-22, 25-20, 25-14.
